Christ — the Image of the Invisible God

Colossians 1:15–20 paints a majestic portrait of Christ: the visible image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, and the head of the church. This passage reminds us that Jesus is not merely a moral teacher or a religious exemplar; He is the Creator and Sustainer through whom all things were made and reconciled. In Him are fullness and peace—fullness of divinity dwelling in human form, and peace won by His blood on the cross.

This sermon will explore three practical truths from the text:

  • Supremacy: Because Christ is supreme over creation and the church, He deserves our worship, allegiance, and trust above every competing claim in our lives.

  • Sufficiency: In Jesus we find everything we truly need—identity, purpose, and reconciliation with God—so we can resist the rival philosophies and practices that promise more than they deliver.

  • Reconciliation: Christ’s work restores fractured relationships—between us and God and between people—calling us to live and share a reconciling love in our families, community, and world.

Join us as we consider what it looks to center our lives on Jesus Christ, the image of the invisible God, and let His supremacy, sufficiency, and reconciling power shape our worship, discipleship, and witness.
