Making Much of Jesus

Making Much Of Jesus | Dr. Kelly Wheat | 10:30 a.m.

Today’s sermon from Colossians 1:1–14 reminded us how central Jesus is to every part of the Christian life. Paul begins by affirming Christ’s supremacy and the gospel’s power, calling believers into faith and steadfastness. We were reminded that making much of Jesus means recognizing Him as Creator and Sustainer, the head over the church, and the one who reconciles us to God. Practical takeaways included: root your identity in Christ (not circumstances), cultivate a life of gratitude and spiritual fruitfulness, pray for wisdom and spiritual understanding, and live out Christ’s reconciling work through love and good deeds. The passage closes with thanksgiving for transformed lives—set free, rescued, and called into the kingdom—and calls us to live in worthy response by honoring Jesus in word and action.
