Where Joy Began

Three Crosses | Dr. Kelly Wheat | 10:30 a.m.

On that first Easter morning, grief turned to astonishment and fear to joy. In John 20:1–23 we follow Mary Magdalene, Peter, and the beloved disciple as they encounter the empty tomb and the risen Christ. The story moves from confusion over a missing body to the life-changing revelation: Jesus has conquered death. When He appears to the disciples, His first words are not reproach but peace. He breathes on them, giving the Holy Spirit and the authority to forgive sins — a gift that launches the church’s mission and our hope.
