Persevering Truth (2 Timothy 3:12–17)
Persecution and hardship are not signposts that God has abandoned us; they are the context in which faithful living is formed. Paul reminds Timothy—and us—that those who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will face opposition. But Scripture equips and sustains us. The Bible shows us what is true about God, exposes error and sin, corrects our course, and trains us in righteousness so that we are thoroughly prepared for every good work.
This text calls believers to two commitments: expect opposition, and root yourself in Scripture. When trials come, don’t be surprised—be strengthened by the knowledge that God’s Word is sufficient and purposeful. Let the Bible shape your beliefs, your behavior, and your ministry, so you can stand firm in faith and do the good works God has prepared for you. Come ready to be taught, corrected, and sent.
