Bible Reading Plan

Join our church family as we walk through the Scriptures together over the next two years. This intentionally paced plan is designed to help us root our lives in God's Word, offering a manageable daily selection of Old and New Testament readings alongside the Psalms. Whether you are reading the Bible for the first time or the fiftieth, let’s grow in faith and wisdom as one body.

What should my daily reading look like?

    • Read the selected passage for this week’s study.

    • Read the sections before and after the selected reading to better understand the context.

    • Look for repeated words, phrases, or ideas in the passage.

    • Read with the overall context of that book in mind.

    • Who wrote it?

    • What type of literature is this passage? (narrative/history, poetry, wisdom, psalm, prophecy, parable, gospel, apocalyptic)

    • Who was the ORIGINAL audience? (look at the beginning of the book)

    • What was happening in their world when they heard this message?

    • What are the cultural differences between their world and our world. 

    • What part or parts of the Biblical Storyline does this passage highlight the most (see below)

    • Using the two diagrams below to understand the redemptive–historical narrative of the Bible, we have a better understanding of every passage of Scripture in the Bible. Do you see any parts of the below storyline that is represented in the passage we’re studying today?

    • How does this passage connect me with the hope and redemption found in the Gospel (Good News of the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ)?

    • Does this passage address brokenness or instruct me to avoid sin? What sin?

    • Does this passage encourage us to take action? If so, what action?

    • Does this passage teach a truth about nature and character of God the Father, Christ the Son, or the Holy Spirit? If so, what is that truth?

    • Does this passage speak to me individually or to the people of God corporately? Or both?

    • What in my life should change as a response to this Biblical truth that we have studied?
