Judy Hicks
Director of
Children's Ministry
Judy Hicks was born and
raised in Roswell, New Mexico. She was raised by Godly
parents who encouraged her to seek God’s guidance and
will in every decision she made. During her senior year
in high school, God brought a young man into her life
that would become her husband. Don Hicks was doing his
student teaching in the high school Judy was attending.
Don and Judy were married on April 5, 1969 at First
Baptist Church in Roswell, New Mexico. Don and Judy
left New Mexico in 1971 to follow God’s call on their
lives. Don began attending Southwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. While at
Southwestern, God blessed them with their two oldest
daughters. April Carter and her husband, Neil, along
with their four daughters live in Lithia Springs,
Georgia. Their second daughter, Autumn Stevens and her
husband, Charlie, live in Robertsdale, Alabama along
with their daughter and son. In 1983 God placed their
third daughter, Atisha, in their lives and in 1986 her
adoption was final. Their fourth child, Andrew, is a
student at Mississippi College. Judy’s family is very
important to her and she enjoys being involved with them
and their activities.
In addition to being
involved with her children and their activities, Judy
has a deep love for the Mustard Seed, a community for
mentally challenged adults. Judy is a trustee for the
Mustard Seed where she serves as Chairman of the Client
Services Committee.
Judy and Don are
graduates of Eastern New Mexico University in Portales,
New Mexico. Judy has had the privilege of writing
preschool and children’s curriculum for Southern
Baptists. She has also taught in the lab schools at
Glorieta and Ridgecrest Baptist Conference Centers. She
has been blessed with opportunities to lead conferences
in many churches, associations, and states to train
their preschool and children’s teachers.
Judy served as Minister
to Children at First Baptist Church in Clinton,
Mississippi for 13 years. On December 3, 2006 she
accepted the call of Brandon Baptist Church to serve as
our first Director of Children’s Ministries.
