David is a graduate of Mississippi College, where he received his B.A. degree in Bible and Philosophy with a Minor in Music, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a Master of Church Music, Conducting Specialty, with a minor in Religious Education. David responded to the call to ministry in January 1972. Since that time he has served churches in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama.

David and his wife, Laura, have been married since 1976 and have three daughters, Mandy Martin, Anna Whittington, and Aimee Prevost, two sons-in-law, Josh Martin and Preston Whittington, and one grandson, Drew Martin.

David enjoys just about all kinds of music and all kinds of sporting activities. His hobbies include: playing guitar, arranging hymns, writing songs, snow skiing, playing at golf, hunting, fishing, and shopping on Ebay. Most of all, he loves being with his family and grandchildren, Drew and Laura Claire Martin.
